My name is Kortni. I have been blessed with two gifts of life, two liver transplants, one from my best friend and sister, Kelly and another from a selfless donor. I love being outside, natural health care, wakeboarding, photography, camping, reading a good Francine Rivers book and an expensive, fancy dinner in the city. Jesus is my best friend and He has blessed me immeasurably!
I grew up on a secluded mountain top that was an astronomical observatory. Because of this, I went to a one-room school house (think little house on the prairie) and legally got my license at the age of 14 to drive an hour down our windy mountain road to high school. I am a certified raw food chef, though I love meat (balance in everything is the key!) and went to Bethel School of Ministry in Redding, CA. I am currently in school to get my nursing degree. Some of my nicknames are positive patty, doodle and dr. jungle (because of my natural health knowledge…)
I have two sisters and one brother as well as two nieces and two nephews (seriously adorable munchkins)! I have such an amazing, caring family, they truly are the best. I also have some pretty amazing friends!!
Kelly, my liver giver… she is my best friend and my polar opposite. She is loud, sarcastic and funny and has an amazing heart (duh, she is gave me half her liver… that is about as good as it gets in the sisterly love department haha).
One day I hope to be able to meet my donors family so I can tell them thank you as well! And maybe learn about who he was!

Hi Kelly, I saw your blog listed on the AIH Facebook page. Wow similar mine has mellowed, but my Meld is 13. I’m in the Bay Area. Kaiser Santa Clara is my home away from home. Or my favorite vacation spot as my daughter calls it. And hey we have the same Best Friend. I will be praying for you. I was dx in 2001, and have been pretty stable, but the last few years have been similar to yours. Thanks for being willing to share your story. Hi Carol! Hey I was born at Kaiser Santa Clara and grew up on Mt. Hamtilton, went to Santa Teresa High School in San Jose! Small world 🙂 That’s great that you have been stable! I will check out your blog! It’s always nice to know that no matter what happens we can always count on God to get us through!

I knew this was going to happen someday but had no idea all is scheduled. How wonderful for you both. I am sure you are very excited a very scared all at once. Just know that God is watching over you both and this will be but a distant memory before you know it. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. I am really excited about it, I am counting down the days. I’m not really scared, I’m just nervous for Kelly, I don’t like seeing her in pain, she’s my best friend. I can’t wait until this is a distant memory!!! Thank you for the prayers.
I think most of the updates are going to be done on this blog, however I am sure Coleman will probably put his own updates on his facebook, you can add him as a friend! And to get updates from this blog automatically you can just “subscribe” I think at the bottom of the page and anytime someone posts something new it will be sent to your email. And thank you, we can’t wait for a wedding too!! FINALLY! haha =)

I wish you all the best during this time. I completely understand what it is like to go through something like this. My sister donated one of her kidneys to me a little over two years ago. She is my only sister and I was so lucky she was almost a perfect match. At 16yrs I had a heart transplant too. I was born with a rare heart condition and that led to to the heart transplant. The medicine from the heart eventually led my kidneys to fail. Today, my health is perfect! I am very grateful for being able to share my story. If there are any questions you may have please feel free to ask. I experienced it all. After all a transplant is a transplant.
